(Archived) The Force Awakens
I grew up with a deep love for all things Star Wars. Some of my earliest memories are watching Empire Strikes Back with my dad in absolute wonder. I would go out in to our snowy Idaho yard, and reenact the battle of Hoth and fight imaginary wampas. As I grew older, the prequels became a new outlet for my passion. What they lacked in story and acting quality, they more than made up for in immersion to my obsession. My best friend, Jace, and I would spend days reliving our favorite moments through video games, legos, cartoon series, anything we could get our nerdy little hans on. Now, years later and much older, Jace and I still find ourselves in love with Star Wars. When I watched the first trailer for Episode VII I wept. All six times I watched it. It was for this reason that my adoring wife offered to fly me to Portland to watch the premiere of The Force Awakens, with Jace. A small group of us drove to a theatre in Vancouver on the night of the premiere. The film was wonderful and nostalgic and took us back to our youth. It was an incredible experience to share with everyone and the best Christmas gift of all time.
